As much as we envision romantic reunions and fairy tale endings, the Army seems to have other plans. At 2 a.m. in a freezing cold hangar, the "hot" new outfit I had chosen would not have been appropriate. So, it was a "pretty" outfit with my heavy coat on top. :)
The welcome home ceremony lasted all of 15 minutes, and then the soldiers were released. They all look the same, so we stayed put and let HIM find US! He cried when he saw us, and then cried even more when he saw his dear friend had come to help welcome him home.
By the time we got all of his equipment unloaded and sat down as a family in the hotel, it was 3:30 a.m. Bedtime didn't come until 4:00, then we had to get up again at 6:30 to drive him back to work. Needless to say, we were all wiped out yesterday.
My husband seems to be running on adrenaline and we are trying to keep up. We all have lots to tell each other, so the subject changes frequently as a thought pops in to someone's head.
Nevertheless, we are all together again, so we will take the strange situations and the changes of subject and the need to be flexible.
There are many changes happening in the next six weeks, but we will face them...together!
